About Courtney

Courtney has been practicing counseling and psychotherapy since 1995.  She is currently President of the Chattanooga Area Psychotherapy Association and has been in private practice for several years. She has a Master's degree in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans. In New Orleans she worked with inner city adolescents utilizing experiential and art therapy techniques. It was through this work that she learned the power of working with metaphor, symbols, and other methods that reach deep into the human psyche and connect us all.

Courtney moved to Chattanooga in 1997 where she worked as a clinical therapist and supervisor for programs at a local psychiatric treatment facility, and became even more interested in combining experiential methods with traditional cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. In 2003, she was offered an opportunity to start private practice in a primary care physician's office that supported mind-body medicine.  These experiences led her to develop hypnotherapy and biofeedback skills as she learned more about the way the body and subconscious mind interact and affect one's overall health. Most recently, she has joined a colleague in forming her own therapy practice, located in Hixson, TN within minutes of downtown Chattanooga.

Always interested in staying on the cutting edge of her field, Courtney has been studying the Jon Connelly Method of Rapid Resolution TherapyTM during the last year.  This powerful, solution-focused approach generates rapid healing responses from clients and integrates Courtney's love of using metaphor, creative visualization, and hypnosis techniques.  Ask her about this fantastic, new approach when you call.
